How Whole-Home Rewiring Is Priced

Rewiring is quoted per finished square foot. The two biggest cost drivers are home size and wall accessibility. Open walls require far less labor than fishing wire through completed drywall or plaster — and that difference shows in the price.

New Construction & Fully Gutted Renovations

Walls and ceilings are open — wiring runs directly to boxes with full access. Most cost-effective rewire scenario.

Fully gutted / open walls$9–$12 per sq. ft.
Mostly gutted (70–90% open walls)$11–$14 per sq. ft.

Finished Homes & Occupied Rewires

Wiring must be fished through completed drywall, ceilings, and finished spaces — significantly more labor than open-wall work.

Finished home / wire fishing required$14–$20+ per sq. ft.
Difficult older construction / plaster & lathe$18–$25+ per sq. ft.

Other Services

Single Room Rewire$1,500–$3,500+
Add New Circuit$200–$500

These are general starting ranges — not guaranteed quotes. Final pricing depends on home layout, number of circuits and devices, kitchen appliance circuits, lighting, AFCI/GFCI requirements, panel capacity, permit jurisdiction, and overall scope. Panel replacements, service upgrades, EV charger circuits, specialty lighting, and drywall repair are priced separately. An on-site evaluation is required for an accurate quote.

On-site estimate: $89 — credited toward your project if approved within 30 days.
