Installation Options
Basic Install on Existing Box
If there is already a ceiling box and wiring in place and the box is fan-rated, we can often have a new fan running in under an hour.
Installation with New Wiring
When there is no existing outlet box or wiring in the location you want a fan, we run new wiring, install a fan-rated box, and complete the full installation.
Ceiling Fan Replacement
Swap out an old or non-functioning fan for a new model. We disconnect and dispose of the old fan and confirm the existing box is fan-rated before installing the new one.
Fan with Light Kit
Fans with light kits require proper wiring to control the fan and light independently. We wire the appropriate switches so both functions work as expected.
High-Ceiling and Downrod Install
For rooms with ceilings higher than 8 feet, we size the downrod correctly for the ceiling height and handle the more complex mounting required.
Remote Receiver Installation
Add wireless remote control capability to an existing or new fan. Allows speed and light control without running additional wiring for separate switches.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I install a ceiling fan in any room?
In almost every case, yes. The main variable is whether there is existing wiring in the ceiling at the location you want the fan. If there is a ceiling box already, installation is straightforward once we confirm the box is fan-rated. If there is no existing wiring, we run a new circuit from a suitable source. Rooms with vaulted ceilings may require additional planning, but there are very few situations where a ceiling fan cannot be installed.
What is a fan-rated ceiling box and why does it matter?
A standard ceiling box is designed to hold the static weight of a light fixture only. A fan-rated box is reinforced to handle the weight of a fan plus the dynamic forces created by spinning blades. Installing a ceiling fan on a box that is not fan-rated is a safety hazard. The fan can work loose over time and fall. We check the existing box before every installation and replace it with a proper fan-rated brace box if needed.
My fan wobbles or makes noise. Can you fix it?
Yes. A wobbling or noisy ceiling fan is almost always caused by unbalanced or warped blades, a loose mounting connection, or a fan that was not mounted level. We diagnose and correct the specific issue. Fans that wobble significantly after a previous DIY installation sometimes need to be fully dismounted and reinstalled correctly.
Can you install a fan I already purchased?
Yes. We install customer-supplied fans regularly. If you already have a fan boxed and ready, we bring the tools and expertise to install it correctly. If you have not purchased one yet and want advice on sizing or models that work well in Maryland and DC homes, we are happy to advise.
Do I need a separate switch for the fan and the light?
For the most flexibility, yes. When we run new wiring, we can install a dual switch that controls the fan and light independently from the wall. If you are working with existing single-switch wiring, a remote receiver installed inside the fan canopy allows independent control without additional wiring. We go over the options before starting.
